Hello, What a great website. Very exciting to have this information about Bremerton High Schools.
I graduated from East High in 1960, the first class to be there the first four years.
When I was a Junior and Senior, I was Coach Eathorne's basketball team secretary. It was one great honor to be working with him outside of his history class.
My job was to travel with the team, do the statistics, go to practices and be available to help Coach with whatever he needed.
Traveling those long distances on a bus filled with basketball players all dressed in their sport coats and nice slacks was quite an honor. There were only two girls on those trips. It was always quiet on the bus going to the games, but depending on the outcome of the game, it could be a very noisy bus returning to Bremerton. Of course it was great for me personally because my boyfriend was the Captain of the team during my senior year and we could sit together on the return trip!!!:)
I have remained friends with Coach Eathorne during all of these years. Many years ago he visited me at Beverly Hills High School where I taught for 30 years. I became a tennis coach and thank him for instilling the love of coaching that he always had no matter the win/lose record of his teams. He is an exceptional man who made learning interesting, had a tremendous sense of humor and always knew how to make each of us feel good. Great memories of our terrific class of 1960. Go Knights!
